Training Module: Submitting amendments

This module explains how to submit your amendments for tabling once you have finished drafting your them.

When an amendment is submitted by a user who is not a parliament user, the permissions on it are changed so that the appropriate parliament users can now view, edit and manage them while the original user retains read-only access.

📚 Exercises

🛠️ Getting Started

Continue from either Training Module: Drafting traditional amendments and/or Training Module: Drafting amendments inline

✏️ Exercise 1: Submitting from the Amendment Workspace

This exercise shows you how to submit all the amendments in a list of draft amendments (LoDA) directly from the Editor.

Detailed steps to submit amendments from the traditional LoDA
  1. On the Amendment Workspace tab, find your list of amendments that you want to submit

  2. Open this list in the Editor (If you have opened an inline LoDA, click on the View Traditional Amendments in the Inline Amendment Tools right-hand panel)

  3. Open the Document Information right-hand panel and click on the Submit List button.

✏️ Exercise 2: Submitting from the Amendment Manager

This exercise shows you how to submit one or more amendments from the Amendment Manager. If you want to submit a subset of amendments from one or more lists, it might be easier to submit them from the Amendment Manager

User filters and sorting to find the amendments you wish to submit.

Detailed steps to submit from the Amendment Manager
  1. On the Amendment Manager tab, use filters and/or sorting to find the amendments you want to submit

  2. Select some amendments using the check boxes

  3. Select Amendment Actions > Submit Amendments

  4. Confirm submission on the submission report which lets you know which amendments can (or can’t be) submitted

✏️ Exercise 3: Using Bulk Update Statuses to submit (Parliament/Assembly users only)

This exercise will show you how you can use Bulk Update Statuses to submit amendments

Detailed steps to use bulk update status to submit amendments
  1. On the Amendment Workspace tab, open the list of amendments you want to submit amendments from

  2. If you have opened an inline LoDA, click on the View Traditional Amendments in the Inline Amendment Tools right-hand panel

  3. Open the Amendment Status right-hand panel and click on the Bulk Update Status button

  4. Select all amendments or a subset

  5. Select transition Draft to Submitted

  6. Confirm submission on the submission report which lets you know which amendments can (or can’t be) submitted.

  7. Save your changes and close the list using the Close Editor button.

  • Assuming your amendments are eligible for submission (see Submitting amendments ) their status will be updated to Submitted.

  • If you are not a Parliament/Assembly user the amendments will be locked for editing but you will retain read-only access to them.

  • Submitting from the Document Information panel will create a duplicate of your traditional LoDA and share it with the parliament/assembly users

OLC users are unable to undo a submission. If you submit amendments in error—

  1. Contact the Bill Office so they are made aware (they will need to reject the amendments submitted in error).

  2. You still won’t have edit rights to amendments with a status of “Rejected”. If you wanted to continue editing the submitted amendments, you will need to copy them to a different stage selecting the current stage and bill version. This will create a duplicate of all the selected amendments, removing the ‘submitted’ status allowing you to edit and resubmit when ready.
