Drafting Schedules
Lawmaker offers some specific features for drafting provisions in schedules. These aim to accommodate the varied practices of drafters in producing schedules.
How to insert a table or image as the sole element in a schedule
You may want to have a schedule that contains only a single element, such as a table or an image.
To do this, you will first need to add a content element.
Do the following:
Place your cursor in the Heading of the Schedule;
Bring up the CCA by:
Pressing Enter, or
Right-clicking and selecting Insert Element…
Select Content (see screenshot).

A placeholder will appear underneath the heading.
Put your cursor in this placeholder and then follow the usual steps for inserting a table or an image.
For guidance on how to insert tables and images, see:
How to add a schedule introduction
In some cases you may want to have an unnumbered introductory paragraph to a schedule, followed by numbered schedule paragraphs (which may themselves be organised in parts, italic headings or other grouping provisions).
To do this, do the following:
Place your cursor in the Heading of the Schedule;
Bring up the CCA by:
Pressing Enter, or
Right-clicking and selecting Insert Element…
Select Schedule Introduction (see screenshot)

Example of insertion of a Schedule Introduction
A placeholder will appear underneath the heading. Type in this to fill in your introductory text.
You can then add provisions below this through the CCA, as normal. You can also add a schedule introduction through the above steps when your schedule already contains provisions.
How to insert unnumbered paragraphs in a schedule
In some cases you may want to draft paragraphs in a schedule that are unnumbered, as in the screenshot below.

To do this, do the following:
Using the CCA, insert a schedule paragraph;
Place your cursor in the number;
Using the breadcrumb, select num (see screenshot below);
Press backspace or delete.

The number will be removed and the paragraph will shift to the left.
If you insert a schedule paragraph immediately after the paragraph without a number, it will also not have a number.
If you delete the number, you will see a document warning stating “Advisory: A paragraph should start with a number.”
You can ignore this. It will not impact the validation of the legislation.
How to add a numbered schedule paragraph after an unnumbered schedule paragraph
If you delete the number of an schedule paragraph, you will not be able to add a numbered paragraph immediately after using the CCA, as additional paragraphs will be unnumbered.
To get around this, do the following:
Place your cursor in the schedule heading;
Use the CCA to create a schedule paragraph, which will have a number;
Move this schedule paragraph to after the paragraph without a number. See Moving provisions, tables and amendments within a document
Any subsequent schedule paragraphs will have numbers.
