Converting a Draft SI/SSI/NISR into a Made version

Introduction

SI/SSI/NISRs (‘SIs’) subject to the affirmative procedure will be initially laid in the form of a Draft SI.  Once they have received approval through Parliamentary procedures they will need converting to made (strictly speaking, ‘to be made’, as an SI is only made when signed).

Lawmaker allows users to easily convert a Draft SI to a Made SI, automatically making all necessary updates to the document and underlying XML.

How to convert an SI to Made

Recommended: Before you convert your SI to ‘made’, we recommend you create a Significant version marked as ‘Submitted to TNA’, as the version you will convert.

See this guidance on how to create this: Submitting an SI/SSI to TNA

This is good practice for keeping a record of what exactly has been Submitted for registration. It isn’t strictly necessary however, as you can convert to ‘Made’ from any document version.

Converting your document

  1. On the Project Tab, find the document version you wish to convert to 'made' and click the Actions menu to the right.

  2. Find and select ‘Create ‘to be made’ version’.

  3. Select or create a folder for the ‘to be made’ version and enter a version description (i.e. a name).

  4. Click Update.

The system will create a new version of the document converted to made.

Converting a Draft SI/SSI to Made will make the following changes:

  • Updates the XML so that it is now an ‘Act’ document (XML version of made)

  • Removes ‘Draft’ from the banner

  • Removes the procedural rubric above the Banner

It is not possible to convert a document version to made if it is already made.

When you begin a new SI project, please ensure you select the correct procedure: Selecting the procedure applying to an SI/SSI

In the event that you have chosen the wrong procedure for your SI, you can change this from the Document Information panel: Selecting the procedure applying to an SI/SSI | Changing-the-procedure-of-an-existing-instrument-version.
