What's new in version 22?
Version 22.0 is a significant release which adds the ability to draft bilingual Welsh Statutory Instruments. There are also a few UI improvements and bug fixes.
It was released on 15 December 2025.
Welsh Statutory Instruments
Lawmaker now supports the drafting of Welsh Statutory Instruments and WSI projects can be created in the same way as UKSI and SSI projects.
Additional functionality has been added to support the bilingual nature of WSIs, with each document version now potentially consisting of an English and a Welsh rendition which can be edited separately.
Documents can be exported for translation and then imported back into Lawmaker.
PDFs can be generated of single-language versions or a combined dual-language version.

New features, improvements and changes
Editing the title of a Project
It is now possible to edit the title of projects. You can do this on the Project tab by clicking on the pencil icon next to the title or on the text of the title itself.
Because projects can be shared between different organisations, we have implemented rules to determine who has permission to edit the title:
Only users from one organisation can edit the title of a project at any given time.
When a project is created, any user in the organisation that created the project has the ability to change the project title.
In bill projects, once a version of the bill is published, any user in the organisation which published the bill will be able to change the project title. If a version of the Bill is subsequently published by another organisation, then permission to change the project title will transfer again to that organisation.
Submitting a version of an Act or SI to TNA also grants the submitting organisation permission to edit the title.

Document checks
Document checks in Lawmaker have been updated to avoid some false positives when drafting WSIs or Welsh content in other documents.
In addition, a new check has been added to identify textual amendments that have some preliminary quoted text which precedes a quoted structure but which isn’t marked as a “quoted text” element. In these cases, a quick fix option allows you to wrap the text in the quoted text element.
Java upgrade
The version of Java used in several backend components within Lawmaker has been upgraded to v.17.
